Woollahra Council has been running the Youth Photographic Award & Short Film Prize since 1994. It started as a celebration of the creativity from our local high school students and has continued in this spirit ever since, showcasing thousands of photographs and short films.

The 2024 Youth Photographic Award and Short Film Prize judges are Alina Gozin’a - Photographer, Artist and Thought Leader on Creative Intelligence, and Luke Doolan - Film Director, Editor and Cinematographer.

Alina Gozin’a

Alina Gozina

Alina Gozin'a is a renowned photographer, artist and thought leader, who left a corporate career in banking & finance at PwC, to become a leading global creative. She went on to become a Cannes Lions nominated, award-winning creative, harnessing the innovative powers of photography, film, and art to tell stories for global corporations and her art.

As a photographer, Alina is known for creating photographs of some of the most iconic AFR Magazine covers of notable figures like Frank Lowy, Scott Farquhar, Judith Neilson, Canva's co-founders Melanie Perkins & Cliff Obrecht. Gretel Packer; Oscar winners Alicia Vikander and Emile Sherman, Anthony LaPaglia, Kathy Lette, Kip Williams to mention a few.

Alina has been featured in TEDxSydney 2021 video & article, on ABC breakfast news, AFR magazine, AFR and SMH newspapers, ABC national radio, SBS radio, various podcasts and other numerous media. She has earned numerous awards and nominations for her photography and film work, including a nomination for the Young Director Award at Cannes Lions for her directorial debut commercial 3 Fat Babushkas. Her short documentary, Life on the Rocks, received a grant from both The City of Sydney and Screen Australia. International recognition for her work also culminated with a gold prize for Monkey Business (featuring Luke Doolan) at the London Photographic Association Portraiture competition.

Luke Doolan

Luke Doolan is an Academy Award nominated Director, as well as an Editor and Cinematographer, known for Miracle Fish (2010), and Animal Kingdom (2010), The Great Gatsby (2013), The Gift (2015) and more. He is a member of the Blue Tongue Films collective, and currently lives and works in the USA.
