Join Toby Cedar for a guided tour of his exhibition Kara Mir Giz (My Story). Throughout, Toby and his sons will illuminate the narratives behind the artworks through storytelling, song, and dance.

The event will take place on Gadigal & Birrabirragal Country.


About the exhibition

Kara Mir Giz (My Story) presents an installation of masks, headdresses and sculptural works, showcasing artist Toby Cedar’s signature blend of traditional forms and material innovation. Throughout, Cedar shares his totems, history, and creation stories, celebrating the deep interconnectedness of art, culture, and community.


About the artist

Born in 1978, Toby Cedar has bloodlines from the Torres Strait's Eastern and Western Islands. He is an established, award-winning performing and visual artist, storyteller and cultural adviser, with works included in many national and international collections. His practice is profoundly influenced by his Torres Strait culture, with many of his pieces created for use in dance.
