Grace Lee in Conversation with Bonnie Cowan | Artist Talks

Join us for an artist talk with Woollahra Small Sculpture Finalist Grace Lee in conversation with Bonnie Cowan, Assistant Curator at Urban Art Projects.

Grace Lee’s practice is fuelled by a reverence for the everyday. A key aspect of her work is the decontextualisation of commonplace social practices and interactions, such as eating, hugging and communicating.

Limestone Cupboard for a Boiled Egg protects and venerates the humble boiled egg. The cupboard's hard agelessness brings out the beauty of the ephemeral ovoid form. The visible labour of Lee’s chiselling process contrasts the precision of the egg's natural perfection and precise preparation. With this domestic shrine, we are invited to reflect on the beauty of ordinary moments.
