Joel Dickens’ work combines expressionistic gesture and minimalistic restraint. The tension between these traditions can be read as a metaphor for the human condition.

Within Dickens’ work, hope and loss sit side-by-side, depicting moments of personal anguish within a climate of social and political ambivalence.

Range Anxiety investigates the fear of running out of time, space or ability, whilst striving for a desired destination.
