Maya Martin-Westheimer is a cross-disciplinary artist, curator, and arts worker living and working on the lands of the Gadigal and Birrabirragal people. Spotlighting complex ecologies, Maya's practice spans photography, weaving, installation, creative programming, design, and site activations. Maya is the co-founder of the creative publishing platform, Floorplan Studio, and holds a master's degree in Curating and Cultural Leadership from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Art History and Curating from Monash University.
Throughout her residency at the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, Maya will deepen her research into the intertidal ecologies and history of Burroway/Moring/the Vaucluse foreshore, with a particular focus on Nielsen Park. “For the past three years, I have been investigating and documenting the intertidal zones surrounding the park, observing the lives of its unique non-human inhabitants, and studying the complex interrelationships within these ecosystems. I’m pleased to be collaborating with Floorplan Studio on an event during the residency and welcome the community to get in contact and share their stories of the area".
